University of Texas Marine Science Institute Hurricane Disaster Recovery

The University of Texas at Austin Marine Science Institute (MSI) in Port Aransas, suffered a direct hit by Hurricane Harvey, with high winds and heavy rain from the Category-4 storm causing extensive damage to all facilities across the MSI campus. The MSI is home to over 600 students, faculty and staff while hosting over 10,000 K–12 schoolchildren and 25,000–30,000 visitors annually.  Broaddus Construction served as the CMAR to restore the MSI facilities, constructing facilities on the 72-acre campus in a manner that “hardens” the buildings against future hurricanes.
